Pacific Grove Triathlon - Sprint

September weather in Pacific Grove is beautiful. Most mornings start off cool and misty with sun breaking through by mid-morning. Expect an average temperature of mid 70’s. The course is a looped course designed for the Olympic Distance Triathletes. The responsibility for counting your laps is the participants, so bring your own system to help you. However, split times will show any errors in lap counting.
Highly recommended!! This is the perfect first-timer's triathlon! It could definitely be a fun tri for experienced triathletes as well. I raced this in 2005 as my first tri and had a great experience. Team in Training does this triathlon so there are lots of new racers, and everyone I met was really friendly and helpful. The course is beautiful (the bike is on a coastal road) and not too difficult (relatively flat, well marked, etc.). And, perfect for fans (looped course). Also, it's quite an experience doing the "kelp crawl" -- the bay swim is through a sea of kelp, which you can use to pull you along.
